Yoga for First Responders
May 13th and June 17th @6PM
Fire Museum of Texas

Join us for yoga led by Melody Butler under the pavilion next to the World’s Largest Working Fire Hydrant. This one hour class will take you through a relaxing session as you unwind at the end of the day. Bring your own yoga mat, water and be ready to have fun. Open to the public, first responders are free, donations suggested.

Emergency personnel may witness more trauma, loss, death and destruction than the average citizen will see in a lifetime. It is estimated that 25 to 30 percent of police officers have stress based physical health problems and 40 percent suffer from sleep disorders and numbers are rising for Post Traumatic Stress among all emergency personnel.
By combining breath, body movement, relaxation, and mindfulness we will use trauma sensitive yogic techniques to work toward greater flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, stamina, and stress relief. This event is a great opportunity to focus on your mental, emotional, and physical health and well being in a safe space, surrounded by your own community.
