A Well Read Yogi – Book Club

I’m here to introduce a book club that brings our practice from the mat to the page and back again. Where we crack spines and dog ear in more ways than one. Where we create connection and community through the lens of self study. And where we transcend time and space using ancient techniques (like mediation) and modern technology (like zoom).
We’ll meet online on alternating Tuesdays, each time with a book in mind though you can read at your own pace.
Each Virtual session or meeting will consist of 45 minutes of guided mediation and movement inspired by the book followed by 45 minutes of discussion and connection!
Classes are donation based (suggested donation is $12) and you can register through EventBrite to receive the zoom link for each session. Every session will be recorded and participants will be sent the recording after class is complete so you can come back to our practices and discussions again and again!
And if you haven’t read the book, no need to fear. I’d still love to have you in practice and hear your thoughts on common themes or understandings that we’ll chat about throughout!

As you know, for me yoga is so much more than a physical practice.

In fact, the ancient practice of yoga is an “8 Limbed Path” including guidelines and structures for you daily life, connection to the divine, and self awareness.

Lately I’ve been thinking about the yogic philosophy of Svadyaya which we typically refer to as “Self Study” but literally translates to “to do one’s own reading”. That sparked an idea. Why can’t I create something that embodies our practices on and off that mat while simultaneously honoring our personal and private journeys alongside an incredible community or union (which is the true meaning of “Yoga” anyway)?

REgister for our March 28th Meeting here!

Our first book pick is
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

This book is one of my favorites! This will be my 3rd time reading it (my first was about 10 years ago) and honestly I can’t wait. I find something new to love with each re-visit and I’m excited to hear your thoughts whether this is your first or 14th reading.
This pick is a pretty quick read so I feel confident that a month is plenty of time to finish. In an ideal world we’d aim to have the first 1/2 read (about 85 pages) for our March 14th meeting and then the second half read for our March 28th meeting.
