Each yoga practice, led by either Melody Butler or Darcy Henry, will be 75 minutes long and appropriate to all skill levels. Our twice daily practices will include various styles such as power, hatha, vinyasa, slow flow, and restorative so that each day will be a little different to adapt to your needs throughout the week. Classes will be held in one of Mar de Jade’s four yoga & retreat studios with hardwood floors, offering inspiring ocean views, fresh breeze and natural light. Each studio comes equipped with yoga mats, blocks, straps and blankets; meditation cushions (zafu and zabutan); comfortable chairs, so no need to pay for that extra bag or lug your mat and props with you through security.

All scheduled practices and excursions are optional.

Meals at Mar de Jade are a favorite of our guests! Delicious and well balanced buffet-style meals are served three times daily in our open-air dining room overlooking Chacala bay.

Every dish is made daily from scratch using fresh ingredients from our Organic Farm. Our menu is inspired by traditional Mexican cuisine and international flavors, and features vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes as well as fresh fish, seafood and, chicken. We do not serve red meat or pork.

Throughout the day visit the snack bar at any time to enjoy coffee, tea, fruit, bread, and our stellar homemade organic peanut butter and mango marmalade. You can even purchase a jar to take home with you!

Our kitchen is happy to accommodate your dietary restrictions and food allergies, if given advance notice. All of our raw foods are carefully disinfected and washed with purified water. Free purified water is available at stations throughout the grounds.

Mar de Jade is the perfect space to nurture your body, quiet your mind, inspire your soul, and open your heart!

Nestled in a peaceful fishing village between tropical jungle and pristine sandy beaches, Mar de Jade began as a non-profit medical clinic and has slowly evolved as a wellness meca – hosting mediation and yoga retreats as well as volunteer and intern opportunities for medical professionals.
Sitting on the shores of Playa Chacala, the town and surrounding areas have much to offer: from jungle hikes, surfing, boating and ancient petroglyphs, to the simple pleasure of playing on the soft sand and swimming in the year-round warm ocean waters.

With four different room types and packages to choose from, there is an option to fit every budget.

DARCY HENRY

“Hi! I’m Darcy. I truly love life and yoga. It has been my desire, since I started practicing in 2010, to share this tradition with anyone and everyone. At first, yoga was a supplemental practice to running and cycling, but after a half marathon and a few MS150’s, yoga became my main focus. So, I became a teacher in 2016.
🧘‍♀️ I believe in yoga for wellness. I believe yoga is for every body. The beautiful and unique thing about asana is that it touches every part of the human anatomy. As Bryan Kest says “…yoga takes care of you”. Looking good is different than FEELING good. There is no proof that pretty people feel better than anyone else. Don’t we all just want to feel good? In my classes we challenge ourselves, we push our boundaries and connect our practice on the mat to our lives that leave the yoga studio.
❤️ I was born in Southern California. I love the sun and the ocean and the moon. I’ve lived in texas since I was 21 years old and now consider myself a Cali-Texan. My students are my greatest teachers and I will never stop learning. Houston has SO many inspiring yogis! It’s an honor to be a part of the Houston Yoga Community. Being united makes us strong and connected. Together we can do so much!”

MELODY BUTLER

“Hello! I’m Melody!
I have been practicing yoga on and off (mostly on now) for about 15 years. I am a 500hrERYT, YCAP, and RCYT through Yoga Alliance.
I graduated with my 200hr RYT certification in 2015 from Boulevard Yoga in Kansas City MO and my 300hr RYT in 2020 through MY Vinyasa Practice in Austin TX. As an avid and passionate learner, I’ve also spent the last few years completing my Barre Above Certification in 2017, Children’s Yoga Certification through Yogees Yoga 4 Kids in Dallas TX in 2019, my 300hr RYT through My Vinyasa Practice in Austin TX in 2020, and my Yoga Sculpt Certification through The Studio BE in Houston TX in 2021.

I recently moved to Ocean Springs MS with my husband, toddler, and cat and I am currently a Barre, Yoga, and Kid’s teacher at The YMCA and DownTown Yoga Ocean Springs. I also work remotely as the Assistant Manager/ Business Development Manager/ Event Coordinator for The Studio BE .

The past couple of years have brought so many big changes and so much growth in my MBYoga offerings.
I’ve now offered 3 online and in person yoga challenges; 30 to 30 , Yoga is for Lovers , and MamaFlow2020
I spent 2 years teaching at the ELYSIA Yoga Convention in Amorgos, Greece at the beautiful Aegialis Hotel and Spa  and at the the Heartland Yoga Festival in Kansas City MO. I’ve created and produced 2 Deepen The Heart Texas Based Women’s Wellness Retreats in 2018 &  2019 and lead my first international retreat, Beachside Bliss in Chacala Mexico in 2021.

On top of all that, I am the founder of Twisted Tykes Family Yoga – a yoga and creative movement program that has weekly family and kid’s classes at the Groves Activity Building as well as community events throughout the area. Having worked as a teaching artist in Theatre and Dance for 10 years, when I completed my yoga training, I knew youth yoga was going to hold a special place in my journey. It means so much to me to offer a safe space for all ages to find their way to the mat and to a mindfulness practice.

In my classes, I offer a mindful Vinyasa and Hatha practices that focus on meditation and movement. I love being able to use yoga to create community and connection wherever I am.

I honestly love everything about my work and hope I get to see you in one or (or all) of my classes soon!
